HOW TO READ DATA
This section will help you understand how to properly read the data presented in this visualizer and provide additional information about the data processing and source.
The data used for this visualizer is based on raw data collected solely from www.clinicaltrials.gov database. Some of the registration data element groups used are Study Identification, Study Status, Study Description, Study Design, Interventions etc. Graphs and their numerical outputs are result of processing and combining the raw data collected through these groups.
Clinical Trials - Global & Regional Insights Visualizer allows you to easily explore and compare the number of clinical trials and enrollment across countries through 4 trial dimensions: status, phase, intervention type and primary disease.
The heat map is the first graph you encounter. The heat map offers you general oversight of each country's enrollment and clinical trial number. It also serves as a input source for the 4 graphs you see below. Once you click on a country, the below 4 graphs change to reflect the data related to the selected country. The country selection can also be made through the „Selected country“ dropdown menu. You can also select the period of interest in a „Selected years“ dropdown menu. When hovered over, every country will display it's name and number of selected variable in a selected period.
Below the heat map, first graph you see is the status bar chart. Here, you can toggle your output by selecting either „Number of trials“ or „Number of enrollments“. This graph shows the number of clinical trials or enrollments for a selected country or worldwide from year 2010-2023 by the status of reported clinical trials. It is important to note that the status of shown clinical trials numbers refers to their status on 1st of January 2024.
Second graph you see below the heat map is the phase bar chart. As before, you can toggle your output by selecting either „Number of trials“ or „Number of enrollments“. This graph shows the number of clinical trials or enrollments for a selected country or worldwide from 2010-2023 by the phase of reported clinical trials.
Third graph you see below the heat map is the intervention type bar chart. As before, you can toggle your output by selecting either „Number of trials“ or „Number of enrollments“. This graph shows the number of clinical trials or enrollments for a selected country or worldwide from 2010-2023 by the intervention type of reported clinical trials.
Forth graph you see below the heat map is the primary disease bar chart. As before, you can toggle your output by selecting either „Number of trials“ or „Number of enrollments“. This graph shows the number of clinical trials or enrollments for a selected country or worldwide from 2010-2023 by the primary disease of reported clinical trials.
